Editing and Managing Projects

Understanding what you can and cannot modify in your Authent timeline.

Authent is designed to provide immutable proof of your creative process. While you have some control over your data, certain limitations exist to maintain the integrity of the verification system.

What You Can Do

Edit Metadata

You can modify project names, tags, descriptions, and privacy settings. These changes help organize your work without affecting the core verification data.

Delete Snapshots

Snapshots can be deleted within 24 hours of creation, but only if they haven't been shared or verified. Once published, they become part of the permanent record.

Archive Projects

Archive entire projects to hide them from your main timeline while preserving all verification data. Archived projects can be restored at any time.

What You Cannot Do

Modify Snapshot Content

You cannot edit the actual file content, timestamps, or blockchain verification data. This ensures the integrity of the verification system.

Delete Shared Snapshots

Once snapshots are shared or verified, they become part of the permanent record and cannot be deleted. This protects the integrity of shared proof.

Why These Limitations Exist

The core value of Authent is providing undeniable proof of your creative process. If snapshots could be easily modified, the verification system would lose its credibility.

Blockchain technology is designed to be immutable. Once data is recorded, it cannot be altered without breaking the cryptographic chain that proves authenticity.

Best Practices

Review your snapshots carefully before sharing them. Check that all captured content is appropriate and that sensitive information is not included.

Use descriptive project names, add tags to categorize work, and archive completed projects to keep your workspace organized.
